WELCOME! The Estuary Council of Seniors, Inc. was founded in 1974 with a mission to maximize independence, dignity and quality of life for seniors through programs and advocacy. In 1993, ECSI moved into the M. Monica Eggert Senior Center at 220 Main Street, Old Saybrook, CT and now had a place to call home overlooking the marsh and the North Cove of the Connecticut River. The Senior Center houses a state of the art central kitchen preparing 91,000 meals a year for distribution to café locations and meals on wheels recipients throughout the 190 square mile, nine town Estuary Region. A made to order breakfast is served 7:45 – 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon in Old Saybrook An evening meal often with entertainment is held seasonally in Old Saybrook.

The transportation department coordinates, schedules, and dispatches several hundred rides a week for the senior and disabled. EMOTS (out of the area medical transportation) provides rides to medical appointments. Vans are wheelchair accessible and two cars are available for transporting as well. Educational and cultural trips to museums, parks, concerts, theatre and music destinations are scheduled throughout the year.

The Senior Center has a staff benefits counselor, meeting room space for preventative health screens and programs, and an exercise classroom for Senior Fitness, Weight Training, Chair Exercise, T'ai Chi and Yoga Classes as well as ping pong. A 12 workstation computer lab with all levels of educational classes, DSL internet connection and laser printer is available. The Senior Center also has billiards, cards, a theatre troupe, creative writers class, bingo, gardening, as well as craft and art classes. We are always open to new opportunities for fun and friendship and to try something new. AARP Tax Assistance and Mature Drivers classes are held here. Notary public services are available.

The Thrift Shop, an important ECSI fund raiser, benefits from the donation of goods from the community and shoppers love to find quality items at a bargain price. Staffed by volunteers we welcome your donation of time as well.
